A Letter From Tom

Our vision of community is rooted in a respect for and appreciation of the natural wonders of the property.

In the six years that we have been working to bring the Edgemont Highlands Community to life there is much to reflect back on and even more to ponder for the future. Before any work began, our Mission Statement (See “Our Community”) was an important beacon in guiding our direction. Looking back with the perspective of six years, those initial principles still ring true. As our familiarity with the land and all its attributes has grown and deepened, the principles of sustainability and stewardship have become even more important.

Our trail system now traverses all 500 acres, providing easier access to the more remote areas as we continue to discover and learn about the subtleties and nuances of the land. Our Lodge has become a community gathering place with more and more community functions taking place each year.  Our giant pine cone and oak leaves entrance sculptures have become local landmarks and our public art commitment continues to grow, providing richness, texture and a sense of humor to our community.

With over 100 homes either completed or under construction the architectural landscape is rapidly moving from a vision to a reality. It is gratifying to have others recognize and acknowledge our efforts to create a diverse, yet cohesive and harmonious, blend of homes.

The real validation for me is to watch the community grow, embracing our ideas, using the trails, appreciating the natural beauty – becoming part of the community. Edgemont Highlands continues to grow and prosper and our commitment to our original principles is bolstered as we see people’s lives enriched by all the community has to offer.

Signed, Tom Gorton
