Our Community
Vision
In 2003, before any work began at Edgemont Highlands,
we created our Mission Statement. This vision and purpose remains the
guide for everything we do. We see Edgemont Highlands as an adventure
and a challenge, inspired by the belief that there are many others who
want to be part of a community that shares the values we honor.
Edgemont Highlands Mission Statement
Our goal is to create a community that reflects and adheres to a clear
and consistent aesthetic statement. This statement is created through:
- Creative and conscientious land planning that demonstrates
a respect for the land’s natural features, with a harmonious
integration of homes where each site relates and shares in those natural
features as much as possible.
- A creative, practical, appropriate, consistent
and inviting architectural landscape that reflects both continuity
and uniqueness.
- A sincere effort to incorporate practical, environmentally
responsible practices, including energy efficiency, use of local materials,
minimal disturbance of soils and erosion control.
- A particular effort to be sensitive to water usage
while at the same time giving guidance and setting an example in creating
rich, inviting landscaping.
- The creation of amenities that promote opportunities
for interaction and sharing among community members and provide individual
opportunities to share outdoor natural features.
- A dedication to thoughtful decision-making and
quality in all details.
Acts of Commitment
- Our Mission Statement is meant to be both a statement of vision and a challenge to incorporate values into the development of our community. We continue to learn about, evaluate and explore new ideas and concepts to meet this challenge. Some of our applications to date include:
- The first single-family and multi-family homes are Built Green and Energy Star Rated. Four Corners Construction was named Colorado’s 2005 Built Green Builder of the Year for their Copperhead Camp project and the Highland Homes Villa Ladera model was named Colorado’s Built Green Home of the Year in the $500,000+ category.
- Almost all trees cut for road construction are being used on-site as lumber for our homes or for trail construction.
- We have significantly reduced density and increased open space.
- Our architectural and site development standards address grading, tree protection, xeric landscaping requirements, revegetation and other conscientious building practices.
- We have catalogued over 150 native species from the site to better understand and protect our specific environment.
